Conservation of indigenous knowledge on the consumption of medicinal Zingiberaceae by locals in Kelantan, Peninsular Malaysia

The locals in Kelantan, Peninsular Malaysia have been taking certain Zingiberaceae plants with medicinal value as daily dietary intake primarily for common health purposes and these traditional uses has not explored documented well. objective is to recognize list out both plant parts that utilized by Kelantan people the uses. Ethnobotanical field surveys were conducted doing a verbal interview 20 old folks of selected village ethnomedicinal data collected regarding plants. identification process was done collecting under guidance from folks. Further information assembled through literature reviewed on their recorded values. study yielded 10 focused family Zingiberaceae. Regarding utilization plant, rhizomes used predominantly followed leaves fruits. Decoction oral application skin. studied aids preserve indigenous knowledge Kelantan.
